This 1974 mgb might be the last of the affordable british 2-seaters. Low-key burgundy actually is one of the better colors on the mgb, particularly the later cars with federalized bumpers, and it gives the car a very upscale look. Looking in the usual places where these cars have issues, there's no evidence that it was resurrected from a rust bucket and instead features decent gaps, good door fit, and a factory look that suggests this car has led a good life. In short, it's the perfect driver. The big, black bumpers didn't do much to diminish enthusiasm for the sporty mgb when it was new, and looking at this car, it's an easy sin to forgive, especially since they're in such good condition. Items like the lenses, trim rings, and even the windshield surround remain in very good shape and work well on this car, adding some sparkle that belies the car's wallet-friendly price. Original-style textured black vinyl seats are comfortable and surprisingly cool in the sun, and they look right in the compact cockpit. Again, we're torn on whether this is the original interior or an older replacement set of seat covers, but either way, they're in good shape save for a small ear on the back of the driver's seat. The interior is standard mgb fare, with a sporting 3-spoke steering wheel, traditional smiths gauges in a flat instrument panel, and a seemingly random array of buttons, levers, knobs, and switches to control the secondary equipment. Thick carpets control noise and heat and there's an am/fm/cassette stereo head unit in the dash that powers a set of speakers in the front kick panels and another pair in the rear bulkhead. This car is equipped with both the collapsible soft top and removable hard top, a rare option in itself, and the trunk is cleanly finished with a full-sized spare and plenty of clean, original sheetmetal. The engine bay is tidy and looks very well maintained, and the engine was reportedly rebuilt by the last owner. It's just a blast to drive. The 4-speed manual gearbox shifts crisply and clutch action is light, and it includes a very solid-looking underbody that's lived a clean life. It's easy to understand why they built this handsome 1952 MG TD replica: it looks great! Originals were frequently neglected and abused, never mind their legendary finicky nature, so it was probably a smart idea to recreate the look in fiberglass and put reliable running gear underneath. This bright red TD has the right look, from the flowing fenders to the cut-down doors to the rear-mounted spare tire, it's going to fool a lot of people. Unlike a lot of replicas, this one nails the correct proportions and doesn't have that home-made look. Instead, the fiberglass body is very cleanly rendered, with paint that's been touched up over the years but could use a professional buff to really shine again. Simple bumpers, unique British-looking taillights, and the high-mounted license plate bracket all contribute to the old world vibe this car gives off, which is entirely the point. The minimalist interior does a good impersonation of the original TD as well, starting with the seat. It's not quite buckets, and it's not quite a bench, instead it splits the lower cushion and puts the parking brake in the middle, which is exactly how the guys at MG were doing it, too. The wooden dashboard is probably nicer than the MG piece, and it includes handsome Vintage gauges that seem suitably British, too. Carpets on the floor are a little faded and worn, but the door panels with their built-in map pockets get the look exactly right. Purists may scoff, but it's a neat fit and there are all kinds of hop-up parts, just as there were with the original MG. The engine is a great runner and has great enthusiasm, particularly with the featherweight body, and the custom exhaust system does its best to disguise the engine's origins. It's pretty stock, which ensures bulletproof reliability, and all the original VW ancillary components, including the generator and fan unit, made the transition intact, so it's. AM/FM

The gauges are in good order, the seat covers are excellent, and it appears to have recent carpets. There's a decent-fitting black convertible top that fits behind the seats, and the trunk is nicely carpeted and includes a full-sized spare. The nicely detailed engine has a few bright red accents, an aftermarket exhaust header, and enough power to feel lively at any speed.
