This 1976 Triumph TR6 represents the end of the line for open-headlight British roadsters, and as such they have become highly sought by collectors. Since these were inexpensive cars, even when new, they often suffered at the hands of students and others who didn't care much for maintenance, but this one appears to have spent its life in a dry climate as the tub and floors are in excellent condition. The paint job was nicely done, and despite being frequently driven and enjoyed, it remains handsome and bright, with no real signs of age. The large rubber overriders on the bumpers were removed, which really cleans up the front end, and the chrome is excellent thanks to a trip to the plating shop when the body was being painted. We don't often get TR6s this nice. While the TR6 is a small car, the interior was heavily revised and is surprisingly spacious. Comfortable tan vinyl seats show little wear, certainly no splits or tears in the covers, while the black carpets offer a bit of contrast. Overhead, there's a revised black convertible top that was replaced when the rest of the car was refreshed. The TR6's real appeal lies under the hood: a 2.5-liter inline-six that makes great torque and wonderful sounds. The brawny engine was completely rebuilt using factory parts, including a pair of side-draft carburetors on an aluminum intake manifold. Tidy and well-maintained, the engine bay shows proof of clean living with spotless inner fenders and firewall, and even the battery tray is in fantastic condition; when these cars rust, that's where it starts. With a brawny inline-six, fantastic styling, and timeless charm, the tr6 is on the verge of becoming an a-list collectable. With a classic look augmented by a few smart upgrades, this is british sports car distilled to its purest form. The tr6 might be the most handsome of all the triumph tr-series roadsters, and although it's merely an updated version of the tr4, the styling updates came together just right and the car is ideally proportioned with great style. The paint is '70s cool and in decent condition, although a professional buff would really wake it up, and those red and blue stripes are ideal for early the early 1970s. It has a sporting look beyond merely cute roadster and that's likely why these cars are appreciating so rapidly. It also features the traditional blacked-out tail panel and as an early car, still carries its small chrome bumpers rather than the big rubber units that came later. This really is a great looking car. Recently reupholstered tan buckets offer good support for sporting driving, and the pedals are ideally placed for heel-and-toe shifting. There's even a decent amount of trunk space for a weekend trip and a jvc am/fm/cd stereo head unit for entertainment along the way. The black convertible top is in excellent condition and stows easily, and we note there's also a brand new tan top that matches the interior, which will be included with the car. The reason for the top-down driving is the engine, which has one of the most wonderful exhaust notes this side of an aston-martin. The 2. 5 liter inline six is plenty potent in the lightweight roadster and with a few choice upgrades, it remains a thrill to drive. Most notably, there's a finned valve cover and custom tubular intake and exhaust manifolds, all designed to improve breathing. Twin carburetors inhale through a color-matched air filter assembly and the condition of all the little parts, clamps, wiring, and fasteners suggest that the work is rather recent.
