With one owner for the past 50 years, this handsome and very usable 1957 chevrolet bel air convertible is the right combination of good looks and usability. Finished in the most traditional of all '57 chevy color combinations and powered by a venerable small block v8, there are few more iconic collector cars than the '57 chevy convertible. Their rapidly escalating values are proof that even with a mass-produced car, the rules of supply and demand prevail. In short, everyone loves '57 chevys. Forget over-restored cars that sparkle like costume jewelry, this car is highly authentic-looking with crisp details and hasn't been over-dressed with add-ons like fender skirts and a continental kit. After 50 years of care, it shouldn't be surprising that the interior has been recently restored. Both front and rear bench seats use correct patterns and materials, including the tufted buttons on the seat backs, and the door panels are like new. The dash is full of bright, crisp gauges, and the color-matched steering wheel shows no cracks or other damage. An original am radio still lives in the dash and all the brightwork here is as nice as the stuff outside. Correct carpets are protected by a set of matching floor mats, while overhead there's a neatly fitted white power convertible top that looks almost new and includes a matching red boot. The trunk is correctly restored with a rubber mat, bias-ply spare tire, and proper jack assembly. Resto-mods and crate motors didn't exist back then, so all the original accessories were reused, although there's an edelbrock intake manifold and 4-barrel carburetor to perk things up a bit. Performance is lively with great v8 sounds and a healthy burble from the dual tailpipes that exit under the rear bumper. The original generator is still making electricity and power steering was tucked in underneath using a saginaw setup. There's also a later dual reservoir master cylinder for safety. Underneath, the chassis is clean and ready to show, with a 2-speed powerg. AM/FM

Go package, 390, lots of options including a/c, and an awesome pedigree. The amx is so much more than merely a shortened javelin. Paint and bodywork are every bit as spectacular as they look in photos (quite likely even better) and it's incredibly rare to see this kind of investment in an amx, both in terms of time and money. It's just plain slick with details like the hood scoop, fluted rocker moldings that look like side pipes, and the full-width taillight that makes the amx look wide and low. The overall look is aggressive and powerful, like a coiled spring ready to explode off the line, and the car definitely commands attention out on the road, even if a lot of folks don't even know what they're looking at. It's an exceptionally cool car made even more so by its rarity. First off, red is a very rare choice in any amx and we're not sure we've ever seen it before in any amx of any color. The high-back buckets are expertly upholstered with factory-style patterns and materials, and the door panels have vertical pleats that match. Plenty of woodgrained details make it feel expensive and upscale inside, including the shiny burled walnut on the center console. The original gauges have been restored, the a/c blows cold, and the rim-blow horn works as advertised. There's even a decent-sized trunk out back, which includes a correct mat and space-saver spare. Speaking of performance, it's delivered by amc's top powerplant, a 390 cubic inch v8 with 325 horsepower, enough to make the amx one of the most potent machines on the road in 1970. Sharply detailed for show, it wears correct turquoise metallic engine paint, chrome valve covers, and a functional ram air air cleaner. The big a/c compressor dominates the engine bay, but it's cool to see the additional bracing that makes that long nose possible. Factory cast iron exhaust manifolds dump into a custom dual exhaust system that sounds awesome without being obnoxious. Racy magnum 500 wheels wear reproduction f70-14 goodyear wide oval bias-ply tires for an authentic look and feel. Air Conditioning

Few cars command as much attention as a 1962 chevrolet bel air bubbletop. The proportions are spot on, the roof looks like it was pilfered from george jetson, and when they're dropped they sit as well as anything ever built. The reflection is a mile deep and the looooong sides are very straight. The paint is a few years old but holds up under scrutiny with only a few marks from being driven', because, after all, that's what this sucker was built to do. Even though it's not the top-of-the-line impala, there's a ton of bright work here, including the stainless trim around the greenhouse, long side spears, and trunk garnish moldings that really dress it up, and all if it was recently restored to a very high standard. This car just glitters. Bumpers are stock, though with their anodized aluminum inserts they looked custom when brand new. Heck, they even resisted the urge to stick a pair of antennas on the rear deck, perhaps hoping to keep the bel air's somewhat sleeper vibe. On first glance it's easy to see that everything inside the gorgeous red interior is new. The stock steering column and wheel are really the only way to go here, and it includes performance goodies like auxiliary gauges under the dash and that all-important 4-speed shifter with cue ball knob. There's also a period under-dash a/c unit that's complete, although it needs to be serviced. The massive trunk is correctly finished with a full mat set, plus a full-sized spare up on its own shelf. The visual appeal of a big block v8 simply can't be overstated. This 454 is no junkyard special, either: this one was built to run and it does so with genuine authority. It's got a few modern touches, including the serpentine accessory drive and modern accessories, but nobody will complain about the increased reliability. There's a big 4-barrel carburetor on top of the edelbrock manifold and the a/c uses modern hardware and has been converted to use r134a refrigerant. It cackles and snarls through a fresh dual exhaust system with mellow-sounding mufflers and it's been fitted with 4-wheel disc brakes, a nice upgrade that looks great through the spokes of the oversized wheels. Oversized chrome torque thrust wheels carry fresh 225/40/18 performance radials. We see a lot of great cars, and this one's a favorite of a bunch of guys around here. The looks, the engine and the sound make this bel air car show royalty, so call before it's gone! Air Conditioning

The factory five cobras are pretty darned nice and someone spent a ton of time and money prepping the new body for paint and then laid down some of the glossiest yellow urethane we've ever seen. Check out the alignment of the stripes from panel to panel, and note that they extend into both the hood and trunk jambs for a very cool effect. That doesn't just happen by accident. The buckets are correct cobra-style low-back units with vertical pleating, and the matching carpets help control noise and heat. 5-point harnesses for both driver and passenger suggest that this car was intended to do only one thing, but the overall interior look is fairly traditional, right down to the forward-canted shifter just like the original. Auto meter ultra light gauges keep an eye on the engine's vitals and live in a cool hammer-tone instrument panel that is a nice switch from the same-old, same-old stuff. There's a wood-rimmed steering wheel to really add to the vintage feel and that shifter manages a 5-speed tremec tko600 transmission. The trunk was also upholstered black tan carpeting and the new optima gel-cell battery lives underneath to help with weight distribution. The engine is a small block 351 windsor punched out to a big block stomping 427 cubic inches. Balanced and blueprinted internally, it sports a forged crank, eagle steel rods, srp forged pistons to make it bulletproof on the bottom end. Aluminum edelbrock heads and a matching intake topped by a big 4-barrel holley carburetor give it that vintage sound with instant throttle response. It lives happily on a diet of high-octane pump fuel, and the clever msd ignition system certainly helps. Ceramic-coated headers and side pipes render the correct cobra soundtrack, and along with a cobra dress-up kit, the mechanicals have a very authentic look and sound. Factory five's round tube chassis is one of the best in the business, and it has been powdercoated white for a very trick look. It's also very functional with tubular front control arms and a 9-inch rear end for durability. There's a vented, cross-drilled disc brake at each corner, and those 17-inch torque thrust wheels are exactly right on a cobra, with these wearing 275/40/17 front and 315/35/17 rear yokohama radials. Complete with build manuals, invoices, and other factory five paperwork, plus receipts from the build, this is an expertly built cobra that's ready to run without the wait.

Fit and finish are good and thanks to modern paint materials, the shine is far deeper than the original lacquer might have been. Chrome and brightwork are dazzling, from the eggcrate grille up front to the unique rear bumper with the exhaust ports in the outside corners. We even like the chromed headlight bezels that really dress this particular 'bird up nicely. Code xa black and white is the car's original interior combination and it was accurately re-created when the car was restored. The black provides a great contrast and prevents red overload, making for a spectacular look that makes people stop in their tracks when they see it. The engine-turned panel that runs across the door panels and dash is like jewelry, and the seat cover design makes the bench feel like separate buckets. Heck, even the original town & country am radio is still in the center of the dash! Powering most thunderbirds in 1956 was ford's y-block v8 engine, and the p-code version displaces 292 cubic inches and generates impressive horsepower thanks to a 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. From the ford red paint on the block to the stamped steel valve covers (now chrome plated), it certainly looks the part of ford's personal/luxury car. The undercarriage is clean and solid with no surprises, with power steering plus a ford-o-matic 3-speed automatic transmission and a 9-inch rear end with 3. 00 gears inside, all of which make it easy to drive for anybody. Cool colors, a built 351 under the hood, and a big stack of receipts make this 1968 ford mustang fastback a winner in anyone's book. Bristling with more than 350 horsepower and a tremec 5-speed transmission, this pretty pony represents an a-list piece of muscle with the goods to deliver on the promises its bodywork makes. Finished in a handsome shade of medium green that looks an awful lot like original lime gold, this fastback looks exactly like the kind of car that would be prowling woodward avenue back in the late-60s. It's subtle but there's no mistaking a predatory mustang fastback, and we do have to say that it's nice to see one that isn't highland green for a change. Build quality is great, with straight sheetmetal, great gaps, and sharp details, all topped by an paint job that's holding up well and has a correct look. Experts will spot the scoops in the quarter panels, which are an aggressive look borrowed from the shelby parts book, and the dual exhaust protrudes through the rear valence, which is always an awesome look. Two-tone buckets have been restored to factory specifications using correct reproduction seat covers, and thanks to new foam underneath, they're supportive and comfortable. Matching door panels are in great condition, and there are recent carpets on the floor, so it all has a consistent look. Auxiliary gauges have been mounted under the dash in the usual spot, just ahead of the shifter for the tremec 5-speed manual gearbox, which is a massive improvement to any early mustang. A new am/fm stereo head unit has been expertly massaged into the dash, and feeds speakers discreetly hidden out of sight. According to the extensive receipts that accompany this car, the 351 cubic inch windsor v8 comes from fetters racing engines, and features world products heads, a comp cams camshaft, an edelbrock carburetor and intake, and all-new components throughout. Making a dyno-proven 350 horsepower, it barks and snarls like there's a big cam inside and it has been expertly tuned so it runs right. Dress-up pieces include the valve covers and air cleaner, and the ignition system is by msd. While they had it apart, they also installed a giant aluminum radiator, fabbed up new fuel and transmission cooler lines, and repainted the crossmembers and installed a new oil pan. A rebuilt front suspension and fresh shocks all around improve handling (this might be the best handling fastback we've ever driven), and the ceramic-coated long-tube headers and a new dual exhaust system with x-pipe and stainless mufflers sounds magnificent. All the parts related to the 5-speed are new, including the clutch and flywheel, and the 9-inch has signs of recent work. Documented with tons of work recently completed (the engine alone has more than $7500 in receipts), this hi-po fastback is ready to rock. And man does this thing drive and handle great. AM/FM
